Position Title: Lab Technician
Reports to: Lab Director
The role
To assist and run tests at Kernel Diagnostics Laboratories LTD (Edgware, North London), and assisting with various other tasks around the lab.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Performing routine laboratory functions to support clinical and diagnostic examinations
• Receiving, labelling and sorting samples, in line with strict laboratory regulations.
• Setting up, testing, adjusting, calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment and apparatus such as chemistry analyser, chemiluminescence immunoassay analyser and centrifuges.
• Timely processing of samples for analysis.
• Recording and analysing data.
• Providing technical support.
• Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.
• Supervising staff.
• Carrying our risk assessments.
• To keep the lab clean and stocked with all necessary equipment.
Education and Experience
• A good first degree in life/biomedical sciences or other closely related subject.
• Experience working in a laboratory.
• Good basic computer skills with common software applications.
• A high degree of familiarity with modern molecular techniques, particularly when used in a clinical diagnostic context.
• Experience in using automated and semi-automated analysis.
• Experience with blood handling, analysis, and processing
